Vaginal warts are small skin-coloured or whitish bumps that appear on your vulva, vagina or cervix. The most prevalent symptoms of vaginal warts include- bleeding, mucous-like discharge and brown-coloured bumps near the vagina. Vaginal warts are the most common sexually transmitted infection. Vaginal warts are broadly known as genital warts, the scientific name of which is condyloma acuminatum. HPV6 and HPV 11 are small strains of Human Papillomavirus that often causes genital warts. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), every sexually active person is at risk of getting HPV, including genital warts. According to The Hans India, report female genital warts have been reported in 2-25 per cent of sexually transmitted disease clinic attendees in India. As published in Healthline, there are 30 to 40 strains of HPV that specifically affect the genitals, but just a few of these strains cause genital warts.
